Senior Year [Feb. 12th, 2008|10:38 pm]
It has been quite a while since I have been here. I thought this little tidbit of information would be nice here.

I am currently putting off homework as usual and decided it would be fun to see exactly what I have left to do next year. I knew that I was running out of classes to take..but damn.

Gen Ed:
Core 350 – T/TH 1:05-2:30?? W-Various
Foreign Language
Fitness Wellness

General Music:
1 semester of upper-division lessons
2 semesters of recital hours
Junior recital

Music Performance:
2 credits of lessons (1 semester)
Senior Recital

Music Business:
BU 374 – Principles of Management
MU 490- Internship

Now I plan on doing my internship this summer which gets rid of that. I have only three actual classes that I have to take but I'm planning on taking a proficiency exam in Spanish with one of my other musical friends and I plan on passing out of that gen ed which means I only have two classes to take in a two semester span. Those being Principles of management(3 credits) and Core 350(4 credits) Now for the Music performance degree the 2 credits of lessons I think would be the same as the 1 recital for the general music degree...and anyways I'm taking hour lessons for the rest of my time here anyways. So thats taken care of. I still haven't been passed for performance although I really am hoping and expecting to because I'm gonna be everything I have into it this semester. So that would mean my junior recital which is 30 min would be fall semester of my senior year and my senior recital, 1 hour, would be spring semester. I think that you are able to register for these at 1 credit. This means that if I took all of my classes (not counting spanish) next semester the max credit load with ensembles that I would have would be 15 credits. As of now the least I've taken is 17 (which is also the most that most people can take without being charged extra). But that would also leave me with seven credits the next semester. In order to be a full time student you have to have 12 credits. That means I would have to find two classes to take just to be a full time student.

So this entire post is pointless. Much like a lot of things. But the basic gist of this post is that by keeping extremely busy for the beginning of my college career it will dramatically reduce the time in the end of it. Which will be very strange....

It is about 10 am now. I am sitting in the middle of my Music History class and don't really feel like learning. It's not that I don't like this class, cuz I love it. It's just that its Friday and I'm tired. That, and in my last class we were talking about ethics in journalism and had to look at some horrible pictures that just put me out of any learning type of mood. Like dead babies and people jumping out of buildings killing themselves. Not very pretty sights. But anyways I'm just here writing because it said that my last update was 78 weeks ago and thought that I should do it again. So here is my update. I am alive. I am going to school. I have a hell of a lot of things to do over the next month in order to keep on living and it's gonna be hell. Thats about it. I guess its time to go back to Music History and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.

I guess i can stand to do an update now. my freshman year of college is now over. and its been pretty awesome. i passed all my finals with flying colors so to say. now im just waiting til after graduation so i can come home. for everyone that cares i moved again and i am now living in poulsbo. kinda sucks but oh well. umm im going to be working all summer...maybe even two jobs because i need to get my own tuba. so im looking at about 7000 dollars there. ive met so many great people this year and it sucks that its over so quickly but three short months and ill be back with them. ive improved so much on tuba over this past year. my private lesson teacher told me that he has never had a student progress this much in a semester. so that makes me really happy and gives me more motivation to keep on getting better. im going to try and get into the rhythm of practicing everyday this summer and hopefully get quite a few solos and orchestral pieces added to my repertoire this summer. right now is just kinda passing the time slowly. its so nice not having to worry about classes but since most people are gone its gotten pretty boring. i think thats about it right now. im gonna go try and figure something out to do. laterz

For those of you who would like to go the Whitworth Choir(plus some other musicians(such as me)) have the final concert of our seattle tour on Sunday, December 4 at three pm at the first presbyterian church of seattle, which should be on eighth avenue.
Tickets are 15 dollars.

FYI - it is a pretty heavily religious concert with none of you typical christmas songs(like jingle bells or rudolph), but it is still really good and in my views worth going even if you aren't religious. And that says alot considering I'm not religious, and I've going to have spent thursday til sunday hearing nothing but that music pretty much all day long.

so yeah...bye

this is a poem that the captain of my ultimate frisbee team wrote us just before the finals today

Soliloquy of a Raptor

Again we meet again,
trampling through the snow
the mighty have not fallen
As we go frolicking to and fro

Wednesday, that fateful time
When we are weighed and measured
Now through verse told in rhyme
Are words that should be treasured

I come with tidings O so sad
The end has come too soon
Although I still feel a little glad
As I sit here in my room

One more chance to prove our worth
Out on the field of battle
We are not measured by our girth
As we mount up in the saddle

Ride on! Fair players
Through the brush and flowers
And listen to the minstrel and sayers
Talk of the Happy Raptors' Powers

Where we play, we cannot know
Be it Holmberg or the loop
For it depends on rain and snow
Whether we fly the coop

It is the end of all things
The war of all wars
When we cash in our jewels and diamond rings
And fight like beasts on all fours

Run, my team, into the mists
And spread your wings and fly
For after we win at three o'clock
We part and say, "Goodbye"

But don't look back
Be strong and true
The snow will melt and we will be
United again as new

ps - i also chipped my nail...and it was bleeding...and it hurts now...so im gonna stop typing with it...bye

haha...so im updating NOW instead of doing writing two papers that are both due tomorrow, or getting started on another paper due on thursday, or start reading a book on which i need to write a paper thats due on thursday...damn...thats alot of frickin papers...but anywayz...

college has been so completely awesome so far!! like beyond awesome!!! way beyond!!! just a quick summarization of things include rootbeer baseball, traditiation, a yell-off, a mock rock that included swing dancing, woo-ing of the ladies on campus, getting to be pimp escorts for a dinner(with the whole 2 or 3 women to every guy on campus), ultimate frisbee, strip tennis...and tons of other stuff...

lets see i made the wind symphony here as well as the second jazz band...i also got put into the orchestra symphony and trombone ensemble...im also taking a karate class...things are just so awesome...

last friday me and 7 other guys from my hall went and tried to go camping at this one park...and it was going good for a couple of hours...the rangers had driven by only once...cuz its supposed to cost like 40 bucks to camp there...but we kind of just snuck on...so they ended up turning the sprinklers on while we were there...it was extremely funny...

i played in my first live tournament yesterday at this casino and i ended up placing fourth...and i managed to get my money back...but the cool thing is that now on the 27 of november i get to play for a wildcard spot into one of the events on the world poker tour...and if i somehow make it through that i can end up selling my seat for like 1500 dollars...the reason why id have to sell my seat is that these big time poker tournament things like the world poker tour dont allow anyone under 21 which is bogus...but kinda understandable...

umm...well i dunno really know what else is going on...so i guess i have no choice but to go write some papers...laterz

so today was the baseball game...and it was awesome!! of course the better of the teams(the yankees)won 2 to 0 but the m's pitcher hernandez did pitch a very good game...johnson was just able to pitch a little bit better...kid's gonna be good though...i went with keith and although i know we're gonna be spending every night together with the whole roommate thing, it still was a very good choice to have him go cuz it was a beyond awesome time...thats all there really is to say about it...very good conversation and pondering of what college will be like...

talking bout that college thing...tomorrow is my last day here that i can hang out...im leaving friday morning at about 10...so if i dont see you then i bid adieu and if a do...then i still bid adieu...i will just do it at a later time...its been good silverdale...more or less...laterz
